Well, this is certainly a far cry from any motor lodge you may have wandered into once.
Soho House, the international members' club providing luxury accommodations for VIPs willing to pay upwards of $3,500 per year for access, has made its first foray into the world of budget-friendly hospitality.
Making its debut this week in England, Mollie's Motel and Diner is located on a busy stretch of highway between Oxford and Swindon. From the outside it looks like any other roadside stop for travelers, but on the inside? Whoa.
A plush "General Store" acts as a common area, complete with Wifi, charging stations, and essentials like snacks and skincare for purchase. Cozy standard rooms feature sleek designs, king-size beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, and rainforest showers. Even the bunk rooms for larger groups are undeniably chic. But nothing beats the price, one practically unheard of by Soho House standards. Rooms start at just £50 (about $65) a night.
If you're not in the market for a rest and refresh, the dining situation at Mollie's is still worth checking out. Attached to the motel is an American-style diner, featuring classic interiors and menu favorites brought to a whole new level. Fries, burgers, mac n' cheese, and waffles piled-high with berries and cream (along with, of course, avocado toast and vegan options) are served up in a shiny, retro space you'd expect to see somewhere in middle America.
It may not be your typical Soho House experience, but it definitely beats a Holiday Inn.
