The Museum at FIT

A little known fact about the behemoth fashion university, FIT, in Chelsea is that the basement floor continually boasts an excellent, curated fashion exhibit. Did I mention it is always free?

The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology has historically had mesmerizing exhibits with titles like Denim: Fashion's Frontier, Dance and Fashion, and the first I saw in 2009, Isabel Toldedo: Fashion From the Inside Out. Think of this space as the little cousin to The Metropolitan Art Museum's Costume Institute.

The small area is packed with gorgeous storytelling through garments, and I promise you'll leave feeling a bit more inspired and informed than when you arrived.
