Goodbye Rose Bar, goodbye Maialino (well, until you reopen elsewhere this fall), goodbye chic rooftop parties...
It's official, the final nail in the coffin of the Gramercy Park Hotel is being hammered in as we speak.
Yesterday, I ventured to the once iconic mainstay to poke around the chicest everything-must-go liquidation yard sale to date.
As you can imagine, the scene was that of harpies feasting upon the carcass of a fallen hero. Shoppers / vultures were allowed to go room by room - an experience that was truly equal parts true crime and apocalypse - to select pieces from the hotel's impressive collection of furniture, décor, accessories and more.
Personally, I couldn't be more pleased, having walked away with some Baccarat crystal and a blue velvet Maarteen Baass chair and ottoman (don't worry, I checked - they're signed!).
