You've probably seen the memes on Instagram of a shirtless man with a coat around his waist, walking briskly down the runway. Comments under the photo are usually people asking WHY would anyone put a coat around a waist? The truth is most people don't understand fashion, and when they see something different they hate on it. Psh!
Raul Lopez knows that his runways will cause controversy, like the model walking on stilts or the oversized organza dress worn on a model's head. When you read a novel or watch a movie, do you believe everything at face value? Do you not stop for a minute to think about the inner message? Fashion is art, it is something that sometimes needs a little bit of mental ability to grasp, which apparently is too much for pea-brained trolls hiding behind keyboards.
In all honesty this was an incredible presentation of workmanship, from the tailoring to the color palette and interpretive stitching - this might be the collection that solidifies Lopez as a serious fashion designer. After all, it is possible to be an architect and a magician.
