Sanchez-Kane

Barbara Sanchez-Kane has always pushed the envelope with her politically charged shows, often drawing from her roots in Mexico. This time she focused on the lack of sexual education and the stigma attached to same sex couples in her home country. It's a powerful statement, one that was interpreted through clothing, dance, and sculpture (of large penises. Did you see our Instagram story?).

Barbara's denouncement of tradition came in many forms - collared shirts with cutouts for the mammary glands, a shirt made of flip flops and all sorts of new ways to tailor suits. We especially loved the nod to Catholic school uniforms coupled with fetishism that will surely shock many in a country like ours. This collection was refreshing in a sea of redundant tailoring.
