Fitzgerald's Myth

After the earlier success of his novels faded, F. Scott Fitzgerald headed out West to pursue a career in the movie industry. It did not turn out well. In fact, it's widely believed that the Gatsby writer suffered a heart attack and died at the Chateau in 1940 - the hotel even boasts a cocktail in his honor called the "Daisy Buchanan." Nevertheless, the myth is indeed untrue - but it's close. His last moments occurred across the street, at Schwab’s Drug Store on Sunset.
