Highlight: Rappers' Outfits
Once again, this is a highlight I might have previously considered a lowlight based on rules of general taste and social acceptability, but over the years the VMAs have beaten my brain into such a mashed-potato-like sludge that I find myself at least appreciating the weird over the predictable. Nicki Minaj couldn't look any more like a WeHo drag queen if she was jamming down french fries at Hamburger Mary's, and I can't be sure if this is Riff Raff or James Franco.
