Though The Hamptons may be lauded as Manhattan's favorite getaway, there are few places out East that truly feel like an escape...
Originally constructed in 1927, the latest iteration of The Pridwin to welcome guests to its charming corner of Shelter Island is an undisturbed gem - a refreshing mix of nostalgia and modern.
“Time truly stands still at The Pridwin,” shares Curtis Bashaw, CEO of Cape Resorts. “A celebration of tradition and simple pleasures, the property represents everything Cape Resorts honors about authentic and timeless hospitality. Equal parts convivial gathering space and cloistered retreat, The Pridwin is spirit-filled with 96 years of summer traditions just waiting to be built upon. We are thrilled to launch our first full season next month after our top to bottom renovation last year, and are so proud that we were able to fully update the building while retaining its soul and respecting what is beautiful about Shelter Island.”
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a beyond charming facade that reads like a charming Adirondack summer camp. Major Dirty Dancing vibes, anyone?
And the interior style? Vintage Americana, though you can't exactly place the decade. An intentional design choice by Collen Bashaw, Vice President of Design for Cape Resorts, who meticulously poured over every aspect of the hotel. Playful, classic, casual - with an eclectic mix of old and new.
Beyond its gorgeous views, the timeless seaside resort is bursting with exciting spots and activities...
There's The Terrace, which serves a delicious menu of American classics all day long. A double-sided fireplace gestures out to an expansive waterfront veranda and outdoor dining area with breathtaking views of the great lawn and the Peconic Bay.
At the Crescent Bar, guests can sip on cocktails or dance to the musical stylings of the hotel's in-house pianist.
There's a private swimming pool, beach, bikes, paddle-boards, kayaks, tennis and pickle-ball courts, fishing, motorized water sports and more to keep guests more than entertained.
For those looking for a truly luxurious escape, we'd highly recommend checking in to one of their 16 private cottages, which range in size from studios to 2-bedroom duplexes.
All in all, you'll be hard pressed to find a more special, relaxing, thoughtfully curated experience on the East End this summer.
So, see you there?
