All of the ire in this pretty one-sided feud began at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, as their job description entailed, delivered a show full of jokes pointed at high-profile celebrities one of which (big mistake!) was pointed at Taylor Swift. The duo joked that Swift should stay away from the young, handsome Mr. Golden Globes and that she could use "some 'me' time to learn about herself."
Swift, irate at their keen insight, turned to Vanity Fair to quote Madeline Albright by saying "There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" in response to their joke. Of all of the quotes she could throw at us, this one certainly wins for its bitter irony. You've read all of the previous slides; you know as well as I do Taylor really means "there's a special place in hell for women who don't help me."
Poehler heard that Swift was upset and hilariously delivered a back-handed apology: "Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. " However, Fey was totally unrepentant: "It was a joke, and it was a lighthearted joke. And it's a shame that she didn't take it in the crazy-aunt spirit in which it was intended." Yas Tina, do not backpedal; the world is behind you now!
