Indulge your fantasy in Koh Kood
If private islands are more your thing, Koh Kood is where to go to indulge that extravagant vice. Located near Cambodia, this tiny island is surrounded by rich marine life residing in crystal clear water that rivals that of the Maldives. This is a place where seeing a pod of dolphins swim by is a casual daily event, and where the hustle and bustle tourists face in places like Phuket, Samui, and Bangkok simply does not exist. This is the place to go to lazily watch the days go by on a pristine beach, or explore the calm seas with a chartered yacht.
Where to stay: The only luxury playground within Koh Kood is the breathtaking Soneva Kiri, an all-villa high-end resort, which comes complete with its own beach, an outdoor cinema on a pond, an observatory, and a specially built tree-house by the restaurant for experiential dining! The island is so big that you need an electric buggy to get from place to place - which is a great thing, as it gives you a lot of privacy and space to relax. The villas are exceptionally huge, 4,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet, with equally large, private pools. Each villa is divided into separate wings, made up of the bedroom, a living area, a his-and-hers changing room, a bathroom, an outdoor shower and an indoor shower! While you will most likely spend 80% of your time in your own little world within your villa, you will want to watch the sunset on the beach, or take cruise through the mangroves to Benz’s, the resort’s exquisite Thai restaurant.
