Last night a certain sect of fashionistas and rock star-romanticizing nostalgics lost their patron saint. Anita Pallenberg, the iconic model, actress, and muse, passed away at 73 years old. The former girlfriend of both Brian Jones and Keith Richards defined style in the 1960s and '70s - big hats, luxe furs, prints on prints on prints. But she was more than just a Penny Lane-esque groupie - the creative spirit was practically a member of The Rolling Stones herself, singing backing vocals on "Sympathy for the Devil," offering opinions on multiple tracks, and starring alongside Mick Jagger in the 1970 film, Performance. After a life of tumultuous relationships, addiction, and turns in the spotlight, Anita earned a fashion degree from Central Saint Martins in London, returned to acting for a bit, and remained an influence on runways for decades. Click through for a look back at her effortless gypset style.
