"I have been told that no person can possibly be entertaining to others if they can’t entertain themselves, all by themselves. It’s surprising how terrified a lot of us are of our own company. If you are, it’s high time you discovered the fun of entertaining yourself, ask yourself to dine delightfully." That's the quote, from legendary interior decorator Dorothy Draper, used to caption the first post of Fiona Leahy's most certainly delightful series of solo tablescapes.
The London-based A-list event planner, whose eye for maximalist design could indeed rival Draper's, can usually be counted on for photos of lavish banquets - flowers, candles, and seats lined up seemingly a mile long. But these days she's quarantining just like the rest of us. Unlike the rest of us, she's not settling for pasta straight out of the pot or even a sad work from home lunch in front of her computer.
Instead, Leahy, who we must admit has an enviable collection of dinnerware, has been setting her table and turning all of her quarantine meals into very chic dinner parties for, well, herself. And, we suppose, her 45,000 Instagram followers.
"Self love for me is to elevate the ordinary and to celebrate intimate entertaining at home," reads another caption, alongside a serpentine-themed scene. Her advice for dining alone? "Use the good China and burn those candles - we need the light."
