The main event, and reason for her 1989 visit, was indeed the glamorous night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music that is depicted in The Crown. BAM was debuting its first season of the opera, hosting the Welsh company for an inaugural production of Falstaff and a gala reception. Because of her patronage of the Welsh Opera, Diana was invited as the guest of honor.
