Despite that whole guillotine thing, Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, led a pretty glamorous life (which, actually, was the cause of that whole guillotine thing). As one would imagine, her jewelry collection was the finest of her time and, miraculously, some of her pieces have survived over two centuries.

At Sotheby's upcoming auction, Royal Jewels from the Bourbon Parma Family, which is set to happen live in Geneva on November 14th, rare jewels from the ill-fated queen's own collection will be up for grabs.

Shown for the first time in public since Marie Antoinette sent them away for safekeeping in 1791, the pieces range from pearl necklaces to a diamond and pearl pendant, reaching upwards of $1.3 million in value.

According to expert jeweler Igal Dahan, a fifth generation precious gem designer and president of his celebrity-favorite namesake brand, the star pieces feature platinum, natural pearls, diamonds, and rubies. Best of all? They're still just as stylish today as they were in the 18th century.

"Like Picasso paintings in the art world, the style of these pieces are timeless in the jewelry world. Just because someone loves ultra-modern pieces of jewelry doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t love these pieces as well. The style of these jewels are timeless and they resonate to everyone’s style in one way or another," he says.

Interested in snagging a glittering piece of history? It'll cost you. Igal estimates that the jewels range from $36,000 to $1,350,000. Then again, Christmas is coming up...
