The celebrated trio who have had the downtown foodie set in a fork-hold since the debut of West Village favorite, King, are now expanding their footprint further uptown with their chic new eatery, Jupiter (yes, named for the Roman god).
Recently opened at Rockefeller Center, just on the edge of the famous rink, Jupiter showcases the Italian-flavored culinary leanings of chef-owners Jess Shadbolt and Clare de Boer, along with co-owner and beverage director Annie Shi. Executive chef Gaz Herbert, formerly of London’s iconic River Café, also joins the team in the kitchen.
The menu is filled with regional classics like beef carpaccio sott’olio, Venetian seafood risotto, and whole grilled fish, but there's a special focus on the chefs' handmade pasta, which, thanks to a larger kitchen, will be offered in a wider variety on the nightly. We're already drooling over the panzotti filled with roast pumpkin and the agnoli stuffed with slow-cooked rabbit. And, FYI, if you stop by after 9:30 on a weeknight, you can even try their off-menu secret, spaghetti carbonara.
To wash it all down, of course, there's an exceptional 400-bottle wine list curated by beverage director Shi. Name a better duo than pasta and wine - we'll wait.
Italian influences can also be found in the design of the space, which is vibrant and color-blocked with sleek interiors inspired by Italian Futurism and the atmospheric films of Luca Guadagnino. A red marble bar awaits for boozy tonics and spritzes, while tiled columns, plush orange banquettes, and custom green Gio Ponti chairs are dotted throughout. There are also cozy dining nooks for larger groups.
And the best part? The stylish spot sprawls across 4,000 square feet, giving diners a much better chance of snagging a prime time table than its more compact sister restaurant (not that we still wouldn't try).
Click through for a look inside and a sneak peek of the indulgent Italian offerings you're about to see all over Instagram.
