Raise a glass - and a spoon (preferably mother-of-pearl) - because Caviar Kaspia has officially opened its doors in New York.
After social queen Lauren Santo Domingo essentially cut the ribbon during New York Fashion Week, the glamorous outpost of the legendary Parisian institution has been jam-packed with the who's who of caviar connoisseurs in the city. Not not saying it's where all those Insta-stories of baked potatoes and cheeky cups of cigarettes are coming from.
Located, most appropriately, on the Upper East Side, the luxurious locale has found a fitting home inside The Mark Hotel, a favorite of celebrities and style stars. Seeing and being seen practically comes with the territory.
Lavish interiors set the scene for an even more lavish menu. Designed by the celebrated Jacques Grange, the space evokes the old world elegance of the original, sumptuously outfitted with emerald green mohair banquettes, wood paneled walls, warm lighting, and, of course, the iconic Caviar Kaspia blue tablecloths.
As for the feast that awaits? In addition to tins of the good stuff reaching prices upwards of $3000, there's the cult-favorite twice-baked potatoes topped with a hefty dollop of caviar, eggs (paired with caviar), blinis and smoked fish (yes, with more caviar), and extra-indulgent pasta dishes featuring ingredients like truffle and king crab, for which you obviously have the option of adding caviar.
We mean, if you're there, you might as well go all out - especially if somebody else is paying.
