The foodie wonderland that is Eataly's Flatiron flagship has just gotten a seriously exciting upgrade.
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the beloved Italian marketplace is a stylish new eatery infused with the cosmopolitan air of Italy's fashion capital. That would, of course, be Milan - and the aptly named Bar Milano isn't messing around when it comes to embracing the culture and cuisine of its namesake.
Decked out in glamorous mid-century modern interiors, the hidden hot spot pays homage to the city's art and design scene, featuring retro details and works from old school and contemporary Milan-based artists. Chances are you'll spot the sleek marble bar first, stacked high with spirits and polished brass accents. Follow that to the dining room, where you'll soon find yourself indulging in an authentic Milanese feast.
Comfort food favorites, perfect for the winter months, include Mondeghili, a Milanese meatball made with braised beef, pork, and a hint of mortadella along with Risotto allo Zafferano, an iconic rice dish enriched with saffron, bone marrow, and Parmigiano Reggiano that's been aged for 18 months. The menu also features a classic Ossobuco, an expertly braised veal shank served with saffron risotto and gremolata, as well as Tortelli di Zucca, housemade pasta stuffed with butternut squash.
And because the dining experience wouldn't be complete without a nod to Milan's aperitivo culture, there's a stocked, portable bar cart available for the sole purpose of serving up specialty Negronis right at your table. Now that's what we call Italian hospitality.
