Though she's usually dropping the mic, Sally Kohn will be picking one up next month to celebrate her new book, The Opposite of Hate, and she's enlisted her friends Shonda Rhimes and Katy Perry to co-chair. Casual.
Our favorite CNN contributor and activist is going coast to coast, hosting a bash in NYC on April 6th at the Guggenheim and one on April 27th at L.A.'s Giphy Studios.
And while Kohn's book touches upon some serious subject matter (like interviews with ex-Neo Nazis and former terrorists), she has remained ever the optimist. After all, the opposite of hate is love - and Kohn freakin' loves karaoke.
So how'd she manage to snag such an A-list host committee (which includes Patrick Stewart, Sophia Bush, and CHER)? As far as Shonda and Katy go, Kohn says, "I'm fortunate to call both friends. They both support my work and my voice and my mission to do something about the way we divide and demean each other. And were, thankfully, happy to help!"
Kohn's throw-down, in conjunction with InStyle, is set to feature live karaoke and performances by Laura Benanti, Trace Lysette, Franchesca Ramsey and Stacy London! All to benefit The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.
They're still looking for final brand sponsors which will be announced soon and highlighted at this epic party. A glamorous evening and the chance to sing your heart out with the stars at the Guggenheim? We'll have to echo Kohn's words here and say "pinch me!"
