King's College (Columbia University)

True to a B.O.B. lyric, Columbia University, originally known as King’s College, was chartered in 1754 by King George II and is the oldest institution of higher education in New York (way to go Bobby Ray). The first ever classes to be held at King’s College were taught by Samuel Johnson in July of 1754 in new classroom buildings adjoining Trinity Church. The school was also a hot bed for some of the greatest minds in early America, as some of the earliest students and trustees included John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States; Gouverneur Morris, the original author of the first draft of the Constitution, and last - but most certainly not least - Alexander Hamilton.
