In the wake of rising concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus, some of the city's crown jewels of culture are closing their doors. The announcement by institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art comes after Governor Cuomo's ban on gatherings of more than 500 people for the time being, and the shut down of all Broadway performances through at least the end of the month. While the measures are preventative (and probably for the best), we still can't help but mourn the shuttering of all these iconic destinations, even temporarily.
