They're a close-knit brood. When Ella's father married Kamala in 2014, she and her brother started calling her "Momala" (they don't like the term stepmom). They call their dad by his first name, Doug, as a term of endearment. Even their mother, Doug's ex-wife, is close with the whole crew - she supported Kamala during her campaign and was in DC to celebrate the inauguration.
