Ella and her brother are the children of Kamala's husband, Doug Emhoff, and his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff. Before becoming the first-ever Second Gentleman, Doug worked as a lawyer for one of the biggest entertainment firms in the world, DLA Piper, while mom Kerstin is a Hollywood producer and founder and CEO of the production company Prettybird.
