Leona Helmsley
In addition to earning the nickname "Queen of Mean" due to her tyrannical personality, New York hotel tycoon Leona Helmsley was called the "Princess of Penuriousness." She hated paying bills, always demanded kickbacks from suppliers, and charged whatever personal expenses she could to her hotel accounts. Once quoted as saying, "We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes," the businesswoman's cheapskate ways eventually landed her in prison for, wouldn't you know it, federal tax evasion and other crimes.
