JAPAN: Sake Bar Hagi
Sometimes you just need to take a break from all that grape juice and sake is the best way to do so! Sake Bar Hagi would be most traditionally considered as an “Izakaya” or a “sake shop.” This underground sake bar in the heart of Time Square is a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood, but don’t be fooled. If you are looking for a quiet, dark place this is NOT the spot. The energy of Bar Hagi is matched to the pulse of Tokyo with its cramped seats, pitchers of Sapporo, hordes of sake options and delicious bar food. This jovial establishment has a line out the door from opening (5:30pm) to closing (3:00am) so you will need to allot some waiting time, but trust me- it’s totally worth the wait!
