Schaller & Weber's Jeremy Schaller Debuts A Luxe New Cocktail Lounge On The Upper East Side

From charcuterie boards to a cocktail bar! Jeremy Schaller is expanding his family's beloved business footprint on the Upper East Side with the opening of his own namesake establishment, Jeremy's. 

A lounge and cocktail bar isn't so much of a leap for the third generation owner of old-school German market and butcher shop, Schaller & Weber; in the past few years he's added seasonally changing eatery and wine bar Blume/Hütte to the family-owned portfolio. Now, he's including some upscale nightlife flair in the mix.

In a cozy space just two doors down from the OG butcher shop, Jeremy's channels the glamour of the neighborhood while nodding to the historically vibrant bar scene of Vienna - inspired by the Austrian haunts frequented by artists and creatives like Egon Schiele and Ernest Hemingway.

The resplendent interiors are made up of warm wooden accents, Murano glass chandeliers, vintage Kalmar sconces from Austria, a Patagonia marble bar, and a grand vintage marble fireplace. Unique art lines the walls, like a custom 8-foot wide mural by painter Blue Logan paying tribute to socialites and celebrities of the Upper East Side, including Bobby Short, Rodney Dangerfield, Eartha Kitt, Groucho Marx, Elaine Kaufman, and Jackie O.

“We took elements that work cohesively to make the bar’s sophisticated atmosphere a cozy place where patrons can feel at home in this elevated experience,” says Schaller.

The cocktail menu, curated by General Manager Ricardo Echeverri (Minetta Tavern, Frenchette), spotlights classic sips with names that nod to local names and institutions, from the Elaine Kaufman (the late owner of iconic uptown hangout Elaine's) to The Frick. As for the selection of elevated bar bites? Oysters, shrimp cocktail, a signature steak sandwich, and, of course, plenty of cheese and charcuterie courtesy of Schaller & Weber.
