I-D, where you started, is all about pushing boundaries. And it was based in your home country England...
Where we're always trying to find answers, trying to solve.
The English tend to be very progressive about art, music,fashion...did that influence you as well?
I've always said England was always kind of based on class, so you're always trying to outdo each other creatively. Whether it was through clothes, through music...that was what we always grew up with.
Growing up we had to rebel against whatever the upbringing was, you had to have a point of view. It was very much about having a point of view. Even in terms of fashion it was like well, you know, I'm wearing this but I want to customize it to make it better. I want to tear this, DIY ethos.
