What is your favorite food?

Adam Platt: My favorite dish, the last dish I’d ever eat? Peking duck. I’ve had delicious peking duck in Singapore. But, what they’ll tell you though, the OG chefs will tell you the duck the sucks there. They’re right, the ducks aren’t fat, they’re not fat because it’s Singapore, you can’t find a fat duck! But I always like peking duck because first of all, it’s resemblant of my Asian childhood. It’s all the things you love about food. It’s actually a bite of history Where would you get it here? No where. You can’t. They always screw it up somehow. The thing about food like that in New York is that it’s always good enough, it’s never as good as the real thing, but it’s always good enough. I think the Japanese food is almost as good as it is in Tokyo right here in New York because there is a big Japanese community. It all depends on the community Well, now I’m curious, what are your favorite Japanese restaurants in the city? There’s a lot of good Japanese restaurants! What about sushi, specifically? The fancy ones are all fine. They’re not as good as the great Japanese ones, but they’re fine, they’re good, but I don’t have the money. Yusura is good, 15 East is perfectly good. I was thinking more ramen, yakitori; those places were just as insane as Tokyo!
