What is your go to restaurant in your neighborhood?

Adam Platt: Well, my neighborhood, I live on 12th st, right? Just on my little block on 12th st: I go to Strip House for steak; excellent. I go to El Dorado Taco for seafood taco. Go to Num Pang, just on 12th Street, it shows you what New York is like, just on 12th Street between Broadway and University and 5th! I go to Num Pang, for sandwiches And for fancy meals, go to the Aqua Bar & Grill. That’s it. That’s it. For the cool, big- Shuko is the next block over for the blowout thing. Where do you take out of towners? Right there. Why not? Why not? I like Tertulia on 6th avenue for breakfast that’s Spanish. I like Kin Shop. Endless choices. Endless variety. For old school, like old italian; Gene’s on 11th Street for veal parmesan, or chicken parmesan, and a martini at the bar, Gene’s. What is your actual 9-5 like on a weekday? That’s a good question. So, I get up, take the kids to school, got to the gym in my building, ride the bike at a certain tension for 50 minutes, every other day I’ll do weights. Go upstairs, take a shower. Sit down. The best writing in the morning, try to write through lunch, I don’t really have much lunch. Then in the afternoon either I’ll go into the office, or I’ll kick around, email and stuff. And then in the evening I’ll go to dinner. Get up and start it all over again. You have to realize, when you go to dinner you’re working! People don’t realize that, they don’t understand. And, you know, it can get to be a grind. It can get to be a grind. There are worse jobs in the world, but it is a job.
