Being an influencer comes with plenty of perks: free trips, free clothes, the ability to make an obscene amount of money off of just one #sponsored post. But with all those followers comes a lot of responsibility - and a lot of opinions. After all, when your job kinda depends on what people think of your life, you're quite literally opening the door to any and all commentary. Throw in a global pandemic that has mostly everyone on edge, and things are bound to get real.
Case(s) in point? The recent backlash some social media stars are facing after flouting all that #StayHome advice and hitting the road out of NYC long after the "shelter in place" advisory was announced. They might have gotten the hell out of dodge, but these influencers can't escape the ire of the internet.
