The ages old cliché of the effortlessly cool, impossibly chic French girl is alive and well with Marie Laffont. Not only has the Parisian native perfected the tousled coif, she's designed the ultimate everyday shoe that just screams of casual elegance with a healthy dose of extra - girl loves a leopard print and a glitter finish, and we are one hundred percent all about it.
After studying at university under the renowned Pierre Hardy, Marie went on to work for fashion powerhouses Christian Louboutin and Sonia Rykiel, honing her gift for blending art and fashion. Thirteen years later, she's branched out on her own with an eponymous collection of flats that will no doubt be shortly taking over the sidewalks. For her first collection, playing on her visual arts background (her husband Paul De Froment is also an Upper East Side gallerist, running Almine Rech gallery), Marie collaborated with the artist Morgane Tschiember on one shoe.
Who will she collaborate with next? Click through for our catch up with Marie inside her artfully decorated East Village apartment, chatting all things footwear, style, and more!
