This Whipped Ricotta Toast Is *Still* Dominating Our Instagram Feeds

by Stephanie Maida · July 21, 2021

As I've successfully resisted the urge to make an account on TikTok, my mindless social media viewing spiral still comes in the form of Instagram stories. I click through, I refresh, and, if I'm really bored, I keep going until I have no idea whose story it is I'm watching while I'm watching it. It's a bad habit, obviously, but sometimes it leads to good (read: delicious) things.

On that note, I don't know who it was that posted the white, fluffy swirls of mystery toast a few weeks ago, when I first noticed it and thought, "Huh, looks good" and kept clicking. A few days later it reappeared during my late night story-scroll on what I'm pretty sure was a different person's IG, and then, I swear, I saw it again.

What was this marshmallow-like spread everyone was eating all of a sudden, and why did it look so familiar?

When I finally investigated via the geotag, it all came rushing back. This wasn't some newfangled Instagram dessert - it was the ricotta crostini at Misi

The Williamsburg eatery opened with a buzz way back in 2018, due to the fact that Lilia's Missy Robbins was the name behind it. And while handmade pasta is technically the menu's main draw, the perfectly-piped ricotta toast quickly became the photogenic star of the show - and clearly, it still is.

Whether it's got to do with long-awaited dinner catch-ups, or the growing realization amongst bridge-fearing New Yorkers that Williamsburg is now simply an extension of Manhattan, everyone, at least on my Instagram feed, seems to be finding their way back to the foodie destination and its aesthetically dreamy, cheesy crostini.

Don't believe me? Just try getting a table for two on Resy sometime in the next month.

Yeah, that's the power of ricotta.
