Don’t Be Fooled By Weird Caffeine Myths

“Contrary to popular belief: roast level has almost nothing to do with the amount of caffeine in your cup. Darker coffees are more brittle, and are more prone to over-extraction because of that. An over-extracted coffee tastes bitter, which people interpret as 'stronger,' with the connotation that the 'stronger' the coffee tastes, the more caffeinated it is. It's all malarkey. If a coffee is 100% Arabica, the amount of caffeine remains relatively the same across all roast levels.”
