It's been just over a year since the fashion world lost its great champion, André Leon Talley.
The industry icon, beloved for his blunt delivery, overwhelming personality, and penchant for a dramatic cape, was an avid collector and gifted recipient of everything from custom Louis Vuitton trunks and silly Chanel accessories to personalized artworks.
Yesterday, Christie's put a number of Talley's most prized possessions up for auction, raising a total of $1,387,827 to benefit Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York and Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina.
So which pieces raised the realized prices?
No shock that his Louis Vuitton trunks laughably blew past their estimated price. $3,000 for those? Uh, yeah right. Though we were a bit surprised to see that one of his Warhols - our personal favorite, Candy Box (True Love) - barely made it in the ballpark of what the auction house expected.
Certainly, regardless the final cost, no winners left unhappy with their loot.
