Bryant Park, Lincoln Center, Spring Studios... Fashion Week has been held at a slew of iconic locations throughout the city over the years. Surprisingly enough, however, it has yet to make its way to what's arguably New York's most famous shopping district.
Until now, that is.
This September, NYFW is getting a flashy new address: Fifth Avenue!
We mean, with Saks, Bergdorf's, and an outpost of just about every luxury brand making up the strip, how could it have taken this long to put two and two together?!
In an exciting announcement this week, the Fifth Avenue Association has revealed that a three-story location at 608 Fifth will serve as a Fashion Week hub for the S/S '22 collections. Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, staging, and sound systems, the venue will host both established and up-and-coming designers, and serve as the perfect space for runway shows, presentations, activations, and more.
"This September's New York Fashion Week promises to amplify the immense creativity of the American fashion industry," said Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. "New York City is not only an evergreen inspiration to our talented designers but also the ideal setting for the week. CFDA welcomes Fifth Avenue, with its storied history of providing a home to so many iconic fashion brands, to NYFW."
Street style photos at Rockefeller Center? Last-minute outfit upgrades at Saks? While sure, getting uptown in an Uber is going to be annoying, this actually sounds like the best Fashion Week location yet.
See you there!
