Paper Street Films hosted a special pre-release screening of “The Runner” at Village East Cinemas in NYC on Thursday, August 6th, following a star-studded LA premiere at TCL's Chinese Theatre with Nicolas Cage and Bryan Batt on August 5th.
The film’s writer and director Austin Stark welcomed friends and fans including fellow filmmakers Jamie Johnson and Nicholas Jarecki to take in a first look of the "The Runner" on the East Coast before it opens. Guests including Real Housewives of NYC star Dorinda Medley and John Mahdessian, Nole Marin, Farrah Abraham, Anastasia Garvey, Cassandra Seidenfeld, Alessia Sushko, Antoine Verglas, James Francis Ginty, Herb Karlitz and Paper Street Films co-founder Benji Kohn filled the theater to watch the new political drama.
Journalist John Anderson led a Q&A with Austin Stark following the credits and guests were invited to Up&Down after for the film's official after party. The movie set in Louisiana in the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill, focuses in on an idealistic but flawed politician played by Nicolas Cage who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal. Peter Fonda, Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielson and Wendell Pierce also star in "The Runner,” which hits theaters nationwide and Video on Demand on August 7th.
