The New York Junior League's held its 59th Annual Winter Ball this past Saturday, March 5th, at The Plaza Hotel. The Grand Ballroom was filled to the brim with volunteers and supporters adorned in their finest formal wear. Take a look at the pics and find out more!
Attendees were excited to welcome vocalist Mary J. Blige as she accepted the League's award for Leadership and Excellence. Ms. Blige, co-founder of The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), was honored for her work improving the lives of at risk women in New York.
The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by the awards presentation and an amazing steak dinner. In addition to Mary J., the evening recognized the NYJL’s Outstanding Sustainers, Deane Allen Gilliam and Diann Rohde; and Outstanding Volunteers, Shari Elizabeth Aser, Desiree Fish, Suzanne Manning, Laura Matiz and Caroline Tyburczy.
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney presided over the ceremony. A live auction preceded the scrumptious dessert buffet, and the enticing sound of New York City Swing, which beckoned virtually every attendee onto the dance floor, and some onto the stage with the musicians! A phenomenal time was had by all.
