Inside The Premiere Of HBO's 'The Inventor: Out For Blood In Silicon Valley'

Last night, HBO and Cinema Society hosted a screening of the highly anticipated documentary The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley. The screening and cocktail reception took place at the Warner Media Screening Room where guests mingled and enjoyed light bites and cocktails prior to the show with a dinner at Porter House following. 

The film was an in-depth portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes and the founding, development and ultimate downfall of Theranos, a Silicon Valley based health technology company that was set to revolutionize the future of medicine. Holmes' rise to fame began after dropping out of Stanford University in 2003 to pursue her goal of developing a product that could test just a drop of blood for over 200 diseases. 

Ultimately, Holmes was unable to complete the task but continued to raise money, expand and promote her product as if it were actually successful. In 2015, Theranos was valued at $9 billion, making the 31-year-old the youngest female self-made billionaire. The film gives viewers some insight into Holmes' allegedly sociopathic tendencies, quoting former employees, psychologists and first-hand accounts from John Carreyrou, WSJ Investigative Reporter and author of, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup. All-in-all the film is an incredible depiction of the scam that led to her current criminal charges as she faces up to 20 years in prison. 

Catch the film on Monday, March 18th at 9:00PM ET on HBO. You won't regret it.
