It's almost as if from the very start Derek Blasberg was destined to be in the fashion world. I mean, being born so close to the Met Gala? That's some luck, no?
Not that the man about town's stylish celebrity pals wouldn't have made the trek to celebrate any other time of the year... but how lucky to know all of your friends are basically obligated by Anna Wintour to be in town!?
Derek's best friend Lauren Santo Domingo took the reins in planning his 40th birthday bash, hosting a chic affair somehow both very low key and extremely high profile.
Guests including Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Anne Hathaway, Dasha Zhukova, Jessica Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, Natalie Massenet, Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss, Kristina O'Neill, Peter Dundas, Chloe Sevigny, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez (seriously confused by these two honestly), and more made their way to the newly re-opened Hotel Chelsea for the fête.
While many may be reporting this was the first party to be held at the new iteration of the iconic New York landmark, it's actually the second - the first was an intimate birthday dinner party for Valerie Macaulay's husband Michael. But I digress.
The two hits of the evening were the photo booth (I mean, who doesn't love a photo booth?) and Giovanna Engelbert. The fashion doyenne positively stole the show, showing off her pregnancy glow in a Balmain bra top, Tom Ford pants, and coordinating crystal strands draped around her stomach and dripping down her décolletage.
