What better reason for friends to come together than pasta? Last week, we helped Barilla Collezione host an intimate dinner party at The Kitchen Table for twenty six notable foodie guests. Following cocktails, catch ups, and a delightful round of hors d’oeuvres, all were treated to a gourmet Barilla Collezione cooking demonstration by celebrated alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin and the culinary force behind the evening, Chef Elizabeth Falkner.
All watched on, phones at the ready, as the two prepared the main dish of the soiree's five-course meal, Bucatini with Charred Eggplant, Colatura & Calabrian Chili Sauce. Pro tips shared included the importance of salting your pasta water, adding a bit of your pasta water to your sauce to help season, and a magic umami ingredient that pulls all the Mediterranean flavors together, an Italian fish sauce called Colatura.
