It's not exactly bizarre to spot a sea of elegant gowns and black tie tuxes flitting about Lincoln Center, champagne in hand of course, but last Thursday certainly saw the sartorial bar raised.
A flock of stylish guests swanned their way to the American Ballet Theatre's annual June Gala, marking the Company’s anticipated return to the Metropolitan Opera House for the summer season and the exciting New York premiere of Like Water For Chocolate.
Intermission was abuzz with praise for the new three-act ballet inspired by Laura Esquivel’s seminal novel, and at the very end, all were left delightfully stunned by the steamy final scene.
Following the performance, Gala Chairs Alfonso Arau, Sarah Arison, Lizzie Asher, Avery and Andy Barth, Emily Balavatnik, Malcome Carfrae, Lumi Cavazos, Katie Couric and John Molner, Susan and Leonard Feinstein, Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger and Sutton Stracke led the group across the way to a gorgeous flower-filled dinner at David Geffen Hall.
Perhaps inspired by the grand display on stage, the post-dinner dance floor was a lively scene, with Mick Jagger putting on a show for the crowd.
