Zach Braff, Wish I Was Here
Zach Braff, the man behind cult-favorite
Garden State, started his own campaign to raise money for his new film,
Wish I Was Here. Similar to
Spike Lee, Braff found it very difficult as an independent filmmaker to get his vision onscreen without interference from backers, trying to create every character into a "sexy pool boy" or whatnot. So, he reached out to the masses of Kickstarter to get the cash he needs to create his dream movie (about life in his 30s) with his dream cast.
Status: Successfully Funded
Goal: $2 million (actually raised $3.1 million)
Rewards: $1,500 for a set visit, $8,000 to view the directors cut with Braff and discuss the film after, and $10,000 to be a cast member.
