After 20 seasons, 14 years, 10 children (including Rob's), 4 weddings, 3 (probably 4 soon) divorces, the one and only royal family of reality TV has decided that their 21st season airing at the beginning of 2021 will be their last. Keeping Up With the Kardashians has pulled the plug.
The Kardashians have meant so much to me since I was 14. As a daughter in a huge, chaotic family dominated by women, I found it very relatable. As someone who has been reading celebrity gossip since I was 8 years old, it's been incredible to observe their unprecedented meteoric rise to the A-List. Can they be controversial and problematic? Yes, of course. But there's no denying that these women have been instrumental in the shift in the landscape of reality television and have forever changed the essence of celebrity culture as well as the entertainment industry.
View this post on InstagramTo our amazing fans - It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way. Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives. Our last season will air early next year in 2021. Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever. With Love and Gratitude, Kim

I never anticipated this would happen so soon, but I'm weirdly at peace with it because it hasn't really sunk in yet...? I'm sure Khloe, Kim, Kylie, and Kris will go on to do incredible things in the media, fashion, beauty, business, and entertainment realms. Kendall? I kind of forgot about her. Kourtney? I think she will spend her retirement eating avocado pudding and giving one word answers on the speakerphone all while doing kegels. And Scott? After years of keeping tabs on him, I still have no idea what he does for a living, but I'm sure he'll do appearances at 1OAK once in a while to make sure everyone knows he's still alive. Oh, and since Kourtney and Scott are spending so much time together now that they're single, I can't help but think that they're gearing up to get back together just in time for the finale since the show has literally been using this "Will they or won't they?" shtick for years.
While many of you may be grieving, think of the silver linings: Mason is in the throes of his d-bag Hypebeast phase, and the show is cancelled just in time so we won't have to endure his inevitable "becoming a shitty Soundcloud rapper" phase. Also, this gives the children to grow up with a semi-normal childhood until they're of legal age and Kris finds a way to capitalize off of them. But most importantly of all, we will no longer have to endure the succubus that is Jonathan Cheban on our screens, and he will be losing the biggest platform he has and will ever have.
For now, let's take a look at some moments that have littered our memes and TikToks along with some underrated scenes as well. Still, they're all equally iconic!!
