The rockabilly scene has always been a fascinating pastiche of subgenres. Somewhere between punks and cowboys, greasers and party animals, young and old, it's big enough to support them all and yet exists somewhere outside of any one of them. And you've gotta show love to the crazy crowds that spread out across the Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado Canyon last weekend for the 2012 edition of The Hootenanny, a long-running rockabilly fest that upped the ante this year with a killer headliner set from 20-year punk legends Rancid.
