This is hardly a controversial statement, but we're suckers for a creative, well-executed and free live music event. How fortunate, then, that we live in the same city where KCRW, quite possibly the best public radio station in America, makes its home. Even by their standards, the Who Shot Rock & Roll series of outdoor concerts at the Annenberg Space For Photography has been a rousing success, combining top notch new and popular performers like Moby and Portugal. The Man with innovative set lists, themes or tributes to classic work, all set up to intertwine with the Annenberg's extraordinary Who Shot Rock & Roll exhibition of classic music photography. If they were looking to meet the standards established over the previous two installments and end on another high note, Saturday's performance by Raphael Saadiq and Band Of Skulls (honoring Bob Dylan and Amnesty International) was indeed another evening to remember.
