It may not be a castle, but the Beverly Hills estate known as The Beverly House was once owned by the media equivalent of a king. William Randolph Hearst purchased the property with his screen siren mistress, Marion Davies, in 1946 and lived there until his death in 1951. The five-acre compound which boasts six structures has a combined total of 28 bedrooms and 38 bathrooms, as well as an olympic sized swimming pool and a 725-foot-long driveway. The current owner, who paid less than $2 million for it 40 years ago, is asking for $195 mil, which ties it as the most expensive home for sale in America. Talk about a seller's market!
If the expansive, Mediterranean-style mansion looks familiar, it's probably because you've seen it before. It played host to a number of iconic movie scenes, including one particularly disturbing horse head moment in The Godfather. JFK and Jaqueline Kennedy have also been storied guests, stopping by on their honeymoon in 1953. If any home was worth the price tag, it's this (not so) little piece of Hollywood history.
