Dum Dum Girls & Jjamz at Port Of Los Angeles Lobster Festival
Are crustacean feasts and indie rock two things that normally go together? I think the correct answer is, why the hell not? After all, despite the fact that the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, which goes down Friday-Sunday in Port O'Call Village in San Pedro, is mainly dedicated to the cooking and consumption of lobsters (!!), the organizers seem to have assembled a pretty ridiculously good lineup of bands as well. While there's no wrong day to go– Friday's lineup is all-local bands anchored by breakout live act Saint Motel, and Sunday features a breakout group including Battleme and The Blasters– the best lineup by far is Saturday's, where the evening main stage will feature lo-fi rockers Dum Dum Girls and indie "supergroup" and longtime GofG fave JJAMZ. Admision is only ten bucks, ($9 if you print the coupon from their website), and while you're there, you can snag a Lobster Meal featuring a 1.25 lb Maine lobster and sides for just $19, or roughly the same cost as a large beer at the Staples Center.
