I also love to have a surprise element. Something new and fresh and unexpected that people have not seen before. Like a dinner party with something extra.
One of the things that is always consistent in my events is that they're always hands-on. I’m an only child who has moved several times in my life and I felt like I was always the new person in the group. Because I’ve felt the awkwardness of not knowing people or not talking to people, I make sure my parties always have something to do. So if you don’t know anyone, you’re working on something or there’s some kind of entertainment.
I love activations! Several years ago for Dr. Chiu’s birthday we did a yacht party and there were activations everywhere on the yacht. Every deck had different pockets of activations, whether it was cigar-rolling or having your picture painted. Just so people can roam around and have things to do.
