In Focus: Architecture
The Getty Center's exhibit, In Focus: Architecture, shows how photography changes the perception of architecture. The exhibit includes photos of iconic buildings in progress, as only partially-completed structures that have yet to achieve their recognizable form. Famous buildings no longer still standing are immortalized through photos in the collection. Also included are the photos of Peter Wegner in which he uses the outline of existing structures to form a new building with the shape of the sky in the background as its silhouette (as seen in the image above). Lebbeaus Woods is an Archetype
The late architect Lebbeus Woods' drawings from his private collections and video footage from a 1998 interview in Vico Morcote, Switzerland is on view at SCI-Arc in Downtown L.A.'s arts district. Woods never received a license in architecture, yet his experimental and theoretical architectural designs continue to challenge and inspire current architectural work. Take a step into Lebbeus Woods' designs and see if you can envision the world that he saw. October 11, 2013 - December 1, 2013 SCI-Arc 960 East 3rd Street Los Angeles, CA 90013 [Photos via @yinyeang]
