Interview with Markus Schulz
There are so many budding producers who have all of these new outlets like Soundcloud and Bandcamp to get their music out for people to hear. How do you find and choose artists to sign to your label?
They do, and I think it is great that all these launch pads are out there, letting people get their first rungs of the ladder by themselves. I only wish they’d been there the first year I started producing music!

For my label, Coldharbour Recordings, typically people come in through the front door. They e-mail over tracks, either completes or almost-completes, press them into your hand when you’re out at gigs, etc. If you like the track, if it fits with a core aspect of the label’s sound and the quality is there, then you sign it up. The relationship tends to develop from that point, and you work your way up to where artists like, say, KhoMha, Mr. Pit and Grube & Hovsepian are now.
