Did you have a different approach when it came to showcasing works for Montauk viewers rather than Manhattan ones?
Lila and I wanted to put together a series of shows that would be fun for the entire Montauk community, locals and hipsters and city folk and surfers. This is part of the reason why we created some culinary happenings at the gallery - Tin Ojeda baked Free Jazz Pizza, Pat McCarthy came up with his City-To-Table brunch complete with our patented Koolaid-Rosé mimosa. There were also happenings at opening and closing parties like poetry readings, or Nick Weber's live collaging of his amazing paintings, or for that matter, that we opened the gallery with piles upon piles of vintage surfing posters we sold cheap. We didn't want to necessarily vibe like a gallery, more like a hang-out, and we think we succeeded.
